Damp

As a guide, treating your home with a timber treatment chemical to eradicate all lifecycle stages of woodworm causing beetles will cost anything between £1000 and £2500. This is just a guide price because the overall price you pay will depend on factors such as:
The treatment method used.
The size of your house.
The extent of infestation and the amount chemical No1 Preservation use.
Clients may request a timber survey for one or two reasons
One: To ensure that wood has not been in contact with moisture, so as to become damp and/or rotted. This could possibly affect the timbers structural integrity and can encourage fungus to develop.
Two: To check for common furniture beetle (Anobium Punctatum) infestations, to determine whether an infestation is active or inactive, also confirm whether wood needs to be treated with insecticide and/or replaced where structural integrity has been lost.

Rising damp is water from the ground that transfers up a structure by capillary action. A wall in contact with the ground will become damp when ground moisture rises up it. This effect could typically lead to wood rot in skirting boards, timber floors, flaking paint, peeling wallpaper and visual mould.
